“His remarks demonstrated, once again, the true face of the United States for the Iranian people,” Ghasemi said on Thursday.
He added that American statesmen plotted the coup attempt against Iran’s legal government in 1953 and were complicit in the crimes of the dictatorial regime of Pahlavi; they also imposed the most crimes against Iranians, since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, with the mask of supporting the people of Iran.
Ghasemi stated that the creation of unrest and chaos inside the country, attempts to carry out a coup, military, economic, political, logistical and intelligence supports for the authoritarian and criminal regime of Saddam in his aggressive war against Iran and the imposition of illegal sanctions on the people of Iran are merely a small part of the US interventionist measures during nearly past 40 years.
"The totalitarian and arrogant leaders of the United States should know that the attempt to create division between the people and the political and military officials in Iran is a despicable and fruitless effort, the only consequence of which is to strengthen national solidarity and to increase hatred towards the American ignorant statesmen,” he noted.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a statement a day earlier that US sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran are targeting the Iranian “regime” and not the people, a claim that contradicts the facts.
